As shared on my Facebook page yesterday, I am delighted to finally be able to confirm that I have been working with Versus Arthritis on their latest national radio campaign.
As part of a week-long ‘takeover’, adverts featuring me and my story will be played daily on Capital, Classic, Gold, Heart, LBC and Radio X stations here in the UK.
An exciting opportunity
To be involved in this means an awful lot to me, for two reasons. Firstly, the charity has been a great source of support for my family and me, since I was just a child. Especially under their previous form of ‘Arthritis Research UK’. Secondly, it’s been a rough couple of months for me (as it has for everyone). I’ve been in a lot of pain. I’m also sheltered by the UK Government meaning I am confined to the home at all times during the coronavirus pandemic. So I feel like a burden on my family and my health has generally been poor.
To have an opportunity to not only give something back to Versus Arthritis but to contribute to the support of others at this difficult time, frankly, helps get me through the day at the minute.
I have scheduled an update to go out on my Facebook and Twitter early Monday morning with the advert schedules for the day, if you’d like to catch them (I’m not permitted to reveal earlier). I will then update this post on Monday with the full schedule for the week.
On top of this, I am also collaborating with Versus Arthritis on a blog post to elaborate on my story behind the advert. This should be out on their website and social media platforms over the next week or two. I’ll be sure to share it on here. I am also expecting to be involved in some further press work off the back of the advert, should any journalists want to know more about my story. Subject to interest and my health. Again, I’ll share anything that comes of this on this website.
Watch this space
I have a few other irons in the fire so keep an eye on this website for more developments. To think that this site and project is less than six months old and I am already getting opportunities to raise awareness of arthritis and autoimmune disease at a national level, is incredible. Thank you all for your support, it’s your following, shares, likes etc. that has brought my work to the attention of these organisations and I am forever grateful for that.
