My Favourite Things – If written by a person with Arthritis

Just for fun, a little something I wrote laying in the bath. If an arthritis sufferer had written ‘My Favourite Things’ from The Sound of Music.

Please don’t sue me! 🙂

I inject Humira on Sunday’s,
Replaced Methotrexate on Friday’s.
Meloxicam, gabapentin and sulfasalazine,
These are a few of my favourite things.

I take my baths scalding hot with a bag full of sea salt,
Vitamins and cod liver oil, waste not and want not.
Ice packs and wheat bags and any other wins,
These are a few of my favourite things.

I’ve got a draw just for tablets, a cupboard for supports.
My list of problems grows taller, as my wallet runs short.
I’ve spent so long in a pool, I’m surprised I haven’t grown fins!
These are a few of my favourite things.

When the pain comes
And my joints sting
When fatigue is bad
I simply remember my favourite things
And then I feel…just as grumpy and sad! 😂

Steroid injections right under the knee cap,
One in the ass cheek if you generally need that.
X-rays and MRIs, at least they don’t sting,
These are a few of my favourite things.

Physio’s, consultants, pain management and therapists,
I see them more than my family, not to mention the blood tests.
Pretty sure by now, I’m held together by tape and string.
These are a few of my favourite things.

You know it’s a problem when you tell your place in line,
To see the Doc by mountains of notes; must be mine.
I’ve popped so many pills, I think I’ve grown wings!
These are a few of my favourite things.

When the pain comes
And my joints sting
When fatigue is bad
I simply remember my favourite things
And then I feel…just as grumpy and sad! 😂
