JoelvsArthritis on BBC Look East

As mentioned on my social medal platforms (you can find links at the bottom of this page), I was filmed by the BBC yesterday morning.

In an interview broadcast to the whole East of England which promoted the latest Versus Arthritis campaign that I have been involved in, we also talked about life in lockdown as a shielded person and the challenges those with chronic illness face at the moment with regards to limited medical support and parenting/childcare issues.

I was really pleased with how it came out. I think my son stole the show somewhat but we still managed to get the message out. 🙂

If you missed it, you can view it here:

Joel on BBC Look East

It’s been a busy couple of weeks with campaigning and I’d be lying if I said my health hasn’t suffered a little but it’s been great to spread our message on so many platforms.

I’m going to spend the rest of this week replying to all the lovely messages I’ve recieved (from all around the world, unbelievably!) and taking a bit of a breather, so apologies if new content is a little thin on the ground. It feels like a time when I should be putting everything in to content that will keep all you lovely people who recently discovered my work coming back for more. However, my health has to come first and I trust you’ll stick around over the next week or two and enjoy some of the articles I have already published or pre-scheduled to go out.

May I recommend a couple:

I need your help

Finally, I can’t do this without the support of you all and now our numbers have swelled considerably, I need your help. If you know of any other platforms I can share my story and raise awareness of arthritis on, please let me know.

Also, let me know what you enjoy and what you’d like to see more of. I’ve had so many kind messages encouraging me to keep up my efforts on speaking out but it would be great to know what articles you like. Based on comments and likes, my story is always popular but I know others enjoy the interviews and stories from others. Some have asked me to do more series like the mental health one.

So either via the comments or email to me, let me know what you enjoy and want to see more of on this site so I can keep improving. 🙂

Thanks for all of your support.

  1. Darn it – that’ll teach me to faff about and not get on and watch things when they come up. The Look East is ‘no longer available’. 🙁 You’re always welcome to guest post on my blog, but the readership is probably less than yours so it won’t necessarily boost your readership hugely! As to what I like to see, as long as it’s well written (and your stuff always is) I’m happy with anything. I’m lucky that personally mental health isn’t a massive issue, but it’s a HUGE issue nationally and internationally so I’m certainly not going to say ‘less of that please’! 🙂

  2. Thank you for the comment Polly. I’ve replaced the link to the original programme with a clip of the interview in this post. Possibly stretching the t&c’s of what I can do with the recording so watch it whilst you can. 😉

Thank you for the kind offer, I would be more than happy to guest post for you. Email me with any specifics re. word count, subject matter etc. and I’ll add it onto my to-do list.
