My Poetry

I used to be

I used to be fit, I used to be strong,

I used to be witty and happy; belong.

I used to be driven, oh, to be enthused,

I used to entertain and sing; amuse.

I used to be healthy, I used to have fun,

I used to compete, be agile and run.

I used to be busy, have so many friends,

I used to keep diaries, be cool, on trend.

Now I’m a shadow, a memory, a former me,

And the only proof is a photo, a story, an ‘I used to be…’.

  1. This really resonated with me. But I do try to be happy with who I am now and live my best life within the limitations. Sometimes, though, just grrrrrr.

    • Thank you for taking the time to read and comment. Really appreciate it. This was a very quick and easy one for me to write. I think we’re all allowed a moment of frustration or to feel sorry for ourselves. Stay well. X
