Website updates – find more of what you like, easier

I’ve been busy beavering away to make some subtle changes to the website to help you find the content that interests you easier.

If I’ve done a good job, you shouldn’t notice that much has changed as the improvements are designed to help with flow through the site rather than any big changes – i.e. interested in my personal story? Then more options to view similar posts or if the poetry is your thing then hopefully it’s easier to read more of those.

Presumably this will become a more routine task as the website and content grows but let me know if you like what I’ve done, the direction it’s going in or if you have any suggestions, from design to content; more topics you’d like to see covered etc.

At the very least, it’s an excuse to exercise my degree and diplomas in internet technology and user-computer interaction design – it’s sad but I quite enjoy this side the hobby, I’m sure many bloggers don’t!

Some of the changes include:
  • Easier access to social network links
  • New cover photo and titles
  • Search bar in the footer
  • More signposting on the home page (inc. to My Story and Poetry as the two most popular categories on the blog)
  • Category sub-menu for the ‘Blog feed’ main menu item (to save you scrolling through all blog posts to get to a specific topic)
  • Signposting on ‘My Story’ page

Plus many more being rolled out over the coming days.
